The modified ashtanga routine helps people with low-back pain by strengthening their muscles at the base of the spine, which can help relieve muscle spasms and stiff muscles.

A majority of adults who regularly practice yoga said that yoga has helped them to get more sleep, reduce their stress, feel better emotionally and improve their moods. Another survey of adults indicated that yoga is more beneficial than traditional forms of exercise to people who are overweight or obese. More than a third of adults said that yoga has helped them lose weight, even if they didn’t do any exercise. Yoga May Help People. A national survey also indicated that more than a quarter of adults who regularly practice yoga said that it has helped them to become more physically fit and decrease their stress.
